Max Factor

My photos were featured in yesterday’s Evening Standard for a story on Nike Air Max’s (click on the image to enlarge). The iconic trainers are celebrating their 25th birthday and it seems that half of London is sporting them. Scroll down for more Air Max lovin’…

Matt Hambly_sml

Matt is the Menswear Editor at ASOS, “My trainers are CTBBQ Air Max 90 Hyperfuses. They were made in conjunction with the trainer website Crooked Tongues and I was extremely lucky to win a pair. I kept them in the box for about a year and then decided they needed to be worn. With crushing inevitability, I spilled red wine on them the next day.”

Sarah Ryan_sml

The lovely Sarah is a nurse from Ruislip “I definitely have a thing for Air Max! These are my favourites as I got them for my birthday a few years ago and my Mum picked them out. She’s the coolest.”

Chloe Rahall_sml

Chloe is a freelance designer “I’ve got so many pairs. I’m addicted to them.”

Viva Cuba!

Cuban hair_1

When wandering through Havana I stumbled upon a makeshift barbershop down an alleyway. This a perfect example of how proud Cubans are of their country- shaving the flag into their hair. Amazing!

José was on his way to a date when I met him in Greenwich Village. I’m sure the lucky lady would have been well impressed with his cool-kid, monochrome look. He wears a Uniqlo jacket, a shirt he bought in the Lower East Side, American Apparel hoodie, H&M trousers, Converse trainers and Ray Bans.

The colours of Callejón de Hamel

Callejón de Hamel is the hub of Afro-Cuban culture in Havana. Like nowhere else in the city, this nook with its psychedelic murals and mesmerizing rumba music is a kaleidoscope for the eyes and ears. It was a pleasure to discover Rafael and Hilberto who aren’t shy to go all out in their colours of choice.

Callejon de Hamel_1

Crowds flock here every Sunday afternoon to dance to the rumba beats, hang out with their buddies and of course, sip on a cool mojito. It’s a must-see for anyone visiting Havana.
