The colours of Callejón de Hamel

Callejón de Hamel is the hub of Afro-Cuban culture in Havana. Like nowhere else in the city, this nook with its psychedelic murals and mesmerizing rumba music is a kaleidoscope for the eyes and ears. It was a pleasure to discover Rafael and Hilberto who aren’t shy to go all out in their colours of choice.

Crowds flock here every Sunday afternoon to dance to the rumba beats, hang out with their buddies and of course, sip on a cool mojito. It’s a must-see for anyone visiting Havana.

Dolores at Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul

I met Dolores in Mexico City on a visit to Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul. She’s a doll maker who makes cute little ‘Friduskas’ in Oaxaca. With the flower in her hair, full length skirt and chunky statement jewellery, Frida Kahlo is clearly a huge inspiration to her style.

Love this shoot for Vogue Mexico, also shot at the Casa Azul by the photographer Michael Filonow.

Red & Pink

Should be wrong but is oh so right…

All things orange

Glowing hot scarf, hair and lips in Paris outside the Dior show

Inspired by my lunch time carrot salad, I’ve dedicated a post on the subject of all things orange! Here are some of my favourite looks from Milan and Paris Fashion Week.

The world has been tickled pink with this playful hair colour popping up everywhere.  Here are some of my favourite examples of colourful fun.

Ploy & Ploy

Continuing on from my previous post, here are another pair of friends with matching names and kick-ass style! I met Ploy and Ploy outside the Dolce & Gabanna show in Milan and they literally stopped me in my tracks. Ploy (above) works bold, block colours with her bright red jacket (get a similar one here), matching lipstick and sheer black shirt and trousers. The mirrored sunglasses and leather gloves give her look extra edge. While Ploy (below) blossoms in floral-print trousers and scarf. She balances the look with a subtle black top, tailored jacket and amazing mesh-detail heels.

Tanya & Tanya

Tanya and Tanya certainly know how to rock a head scarf, furry gilet and converse. These two buddies ooze swagger and style, mixing vintage pieces with textures and COLOUR!

Tanya Lacey (above) is a singer/songwriter and recently co-wrote “T.H.E” (The Hardest Ever) with, JLo and Jagger. Watch out for her debut album coming out later this year, released by Sony/RCA. She wears a jacket by Pinkyotto from Williamsburg (my favourite place in NY!) furry gilet from Notting Hill, t-shirt from Forever 21, vintage headscarf, leggings from ASOS and Converse trainers.

Tanya (below) is a student and works pink panther chic in her jacket from Topshop, jeans from Topshop, furry gilet from Heba, pink top from Spitalfields and Converse trainers. ♥ it!

Carnaby Street colours with Natasha

It was a lovely surprise to bump into Natasha on Carnaby Street. She’s an old friend from work who I haven’t seen for years! Natasha’s a stylist and as you can see, it comes naturally to her. So of course, I had to take some photos of her! She wears a vintage jacket, leopard print t-shirt from Primark, lace red top from Topshop, trousers by Provider, shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo, Moschino bag and Rolex watch.
